Curtis Pointer, age 52, went to be with his Lord on October 8, 2009 in Las Vegas, New Mexico, after a lengthy illness.

Curtis was born on September 7, 1957 to Johnnie Ruth Montgomery and William Franklin Bill Pointer in Springdale, Ark. He attended Carlsbad and Clovis schools and went on to attend college at the Nazarene Bible College until his illness in 1976. While in Las Vegas he became a dedicated member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church and his church family including Pastor Richard Reed and Pastor Pat Halverson were a very important part of his life. Larry and Beth Abney and Eric Erikson became dear friends and guided and supported Curtis throughout his time there.

Curtis is survived by his mother, Johnnie McCauley, brothers John Pointer of Crestview Florida, Billy and Freddy Pointer of California, sisters Thelma Hedgecock and husband Bill of Carlsbad, Gail Lisby of Clovis, LaQuita Marine and LaVeta Greenwald of Nevada. nephews Jerry Lisby and wife Tamara of Highland Village, TX, Shawn, Michael, David and Billy Hedgecock of Carlsbad, Benjamin Pointer of Ohio and Chris Pointer of Illinois, and nieces Lily Hedgecock of Carlsbad and Melissa Pointer of Ohio, along with numerous other relatives and friends

Curtis was preceded in death by his father Bill Pointer, step-father Bill McCauley, and beloved niece Tisha Hedgecock.

Throughout his long years of struggle Curtis never lost his love of family and his unwavering love and faith in God. His strength, courage and spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Viewing will be Saturday from 12:00 till 6:00 pm, Sunday from 12:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m., Monday, from 8:00 a.m. till 8:00 p.m. at Steed-Todd Funeral Home

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 13th at 9:00 a.m. at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis, New Mexico with Bill Hedgecock officiating.
