Curtis Sparwasser was born in Silverton, TX on July 18, 1917. He passed from this life in the early morning of December 28, 2006 after a long sickness in Lubbock.
He had nicknames of Curt or Spar that he liked to be called. He served in the armed forces for the 862nd Engr Avn Bn and he was a Cpl at the time of discharge. He was honorably discharged from the Army in November of 1946. He worked for the Santa Fe railroad for many years until retirement in 1977. His love for horses and the outdoors was what he loved the most and his little dog Scooter. He also worked horses with Doyle Stowe and family for many years. Curtis was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to all that knew him.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Maxine Brown Sparwasser, his parents, Frederick Sparwasser and Bertha Webster, a brother, W. A. Sparwasser, and a nephew, Joe Sparwasser.
He is survived by three daughters, Amanda Regenhardt Jimmy of Clovis, Phyliss Annonson Jon of Shelbyville, IN, and Sharon Fleury of Clovis; a son, Scott Burgess of Massachusetts, grandchildren, Merlin Byrd of Logan, NM, Cheyenne and Kari Regenhardt of Clovis, J. D. Fleury Gina of Lubbock, Mike and James Annonson of Clovis, a niece, Pauline Sparwasser of Wellston, OK, numerous other family and friends including, Mark Stowe Jen of Slaton, TX, Doyle Stowe Mickey of Portales, and Shawna Russell Kelly of Clovis who are all close friends of the family.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006 at the Grady Cemetery in Grady, NM where Curtis will be laid to rest next to his wife. Casket Bearers will be Mark Stowe, Doyle Stowe, Jimmy Regenhardt, Heath Jaquess, and Bill Fleury. Honorary Casket Bearers will be all friends and relatives
