Dan Gamel age 62 of Grady, New Mexico passed away Sunday, January 6, 2008 at his home in Grady. He was born August 9, 1945 in Abilene, Texas. As a young child he and his mother moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico. He graduated from Carlsbad High School and later he moved to Moab, Utah where he went to work for various mining companies. He was a pioneer of directional drilling who was currently working for Baker Hughes Inteq as a directional driller. He married Ruth White in Clovis on June 23, 2006. He was a loving husband and a devoted father and step-father.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Gamel of Grady, New Mexico; Daughters Christy Gamel of Ft. Worth, Texas; Angela Gamel of Krum, Texas; Maureen Gamel of Ft. Worth, Texas; Son Captain Justin Gamel and his wife Jennifer of Shreveport, Louisiana; step sons Alex Lunsford of Portales, New Mexico; Aaron Lunsford, Andrew Lunsford, Adam Lunsford and Adrian Lunsford all of Grady, New Mexico; one step sister Kay Hargrove of Roswell, New Mexico. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Steed-Todd Chapel. Cremation will take place with no viewing. Honorary pallbearers will be all his family and friends. Memorial Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society in Clovis or a charity of your choice.
