Mr. Dan Elwood Harper, age 87, died on November 19, 2012 at Bay Breeze Nursing Home in Gulf Breeze, Florida.
Born May 11, 1925 in Honeygrove Texas, Dan was raised in the panhandle of Texas. He enlisted into the United States Navy in 1942 and served in WWII. He later married Marlene Letty Lindsey in 1950, and moved to Clovis New Mexico. He was employed as an over the road truck driver, Burger Chef Restaurant Manager, and later Swift and Company from which he retired. Post retirement he was an Assistant Manager at Checker Auto Parts. He also ran his own automobile repair shop, Dans Automotive at his residence for many years.
Dan and Marlene were faithful members of Westbrook Baptist Church.
Survivors include: Brother Mac Harper and Sister Betty Skruggs Bobby of Amarillo TX Daughters Danna Rodriguez of Mary Esther Florida, with grandsons, Darin Troxel, and Stephen Rodriquez. Andrea Humphreys David with granddaughter Chelsea and grandson Tyler of Wylie TX. He is also survived by grandson Chance Harper of Mary Esther Florida, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marlene, sons MikeEdna, Mark, and James, Harper and Son inlaw Guadalupe Rodriguez, His parents Nell and Normie Harper, Brothers Jerry Harper, and Sisters Tommie Caskey and Billie Woods.
Services will be held in the Steed Todd Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Interment will be at Lawn Havens Memorial Gardens immediately following
Visitation with the family will be on Friday, November 23, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Steed Todd Funeral Home.
