Darrell Bailey

May 23, 1937 — December 20, 2009

Darrell Gene Bailey, lifelong resident of Clovis, was born May 23, 1937 in Clovis, New Mexico to Foy and Grace Bailey. He followed in his fathers profession of being a precise carpenter his entire life. In fact, his CB handle was Wood butcher. When asked recently what brought him most joy, he said I am happiest when I am working. Darrell was also an avid gardener and loved spending time with friends and family.

Darrell married Jeanie Jackson on August 22, 1960 and they were blessed with two daughters, Kandie Bailey of Lubbock, and Tammy Allen of Amarillo. His favorite place to camp was in the mountains of New Mexico. Darrell and Jeanie also enjoyed traveling in various places all over the United States. Another interest of Darrells was antique cars, as he was a long standing member of Desert Cruisers.

Left to cherish memories are his wife of 49 years, Jeanie Bailey of Clovis; his father, Foy Bailey; daughters, Kandie Bailey of Lubbock, Tammy and Shane Allen of Amarillo; sisters and spouses, Virginia and Thomas Rhodes of Amarillo, Karen and Mike McCall of Hemstead, Texas, Leta and Chuck Harvel of Aiken, South Carolina, and brother Jerry Bailey of Clovis. Grandchildren left to cherish loving memories are Aaron Burch, Amber Burch, and Alisha Harrist, all of Lubbock; Callie Harris and Cory Harris, of Amarillo. Great grandchildren include Addison and Cason Harrist of Lubbock. Darrell will also be missed my numerous nieces and nephews.

Darrell was preceded in death by a sister, Joy in 1941, and his mother, Grace Bailey in April of this year.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at 16th Pile Church of Christ with Doug Young officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories.

The family will available for visitation at 1405 Hillcrest.

Memorials may be made to the youth group at 16th and Pile Church of Christ, 1521 Pile, Clovis, New Mexico 88101.
