Daryle A. Stephens, Sr., age 82, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis. He was born on January 5, 1929, in Motley County, Texas, to Mary and Henry Alec Stephens.
He moved to Clovis in 1940, and married Bobbie Edwards on April 24, 1949, in Bovina, Texas. He was part owner of House of Color Paint and Picture Framing until 1969. He then worked at Triangle Home Center until 1989 when he retired to pursue his lifelong dream of dancing. Daryle and Bobbie created the Fun Dancers and instructed Round Dance, and County Western Dance in New Mexico, Colorado, and Texas. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Clovis.
Daryle is survived by his wife, Bobbie of Retirement Ranch one daughter, Barbara Cliff Elliott of Colorado Springs, Colorado one son, Daryle, Jr., Audrey Stephens of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma one sister, Belle Gayle Guthrie of Yukon, Oklahoma four grandchildren eight greatgrandchildren four great, greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Daryle is preceded in death by his parents three sisters, Evelyn Hill, Manila Reed, and Vernell Wall and, one grandson, Cliff Allan Elliot.
A family visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 8 at SteedTodd Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 9 at Central Baptist Church in Clovis with Rev. Don Reid officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers will be Homer Hailey, Scott Guthrie, John Stephens, Richard Stephens, Isaiah Hailey, and Lonnie Wall.
