David Allen, Jr.

David H. D.H. Allen, Jr., age 92, of Grady, New Mexico passed away on February, 26, 2013 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, New Mexico.

David was born on December 4, 1920 to David Herschel and Mabel Williams Allen in Comanche County, Texas. He served in the Navy as a Sea Bee in WWII. He married Gwendolyn Durham on February 8, 1942 in Littlefield, Texas. He moved to the Grady community in 1946 where he lived until his death. He farmed until his retirement in 1986. He was a member Grady Baptist Church. He served as the Treasurer of Grady Baptist Church for thirtyone years as well as serving as a deacon for many years. He loved to go hunting in the fall and fishing in the summer.

David is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn, of the home in Grady, New Mexico one sister: Alma Phillips of Hugo, Oklahoma one nephew: Mac Phillips of Hugo, Oklahoma one niece: Cindy Neil Finley of Lubbock, Texas and one great niece: Heather Tim Abel of Hale Center, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents one son: David Edward Allen who was born on October 13, 1949 and passed away the same day and one sister: Edith Montez Allen.

Funeral services are at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013 at Grady Baptist Church in Grady, New Mexico with Rev. Paul Burwash officiating. Burial will follow at Grady Cemetery in Grady, New Mexico. Casket Bearers are Del Sours, Jerry Powell, Roger Miller, Wesley Grau, Larry Rush, Larry Powell, Kelly Powell and Bobby Hammock. Honorary Casket Bearers are all of Davids friends and neighbors.
