A Celebration of David's life will be held at 6:30pm on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Legacy Life Family Church. David was born in Waco, TX to the home of Jesus and Anita Martinez. David married the love of his life, Laura Leeder, in 2008 in Clovis, NM.
David lost a four-year battle with cancer on May 26, 2018 at home surrounded by his living wife, daughter, and his two faithful canine companions.
David wanted everyone to know that though the battle with cancer was lost, he won the victory over death through his love of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. David looked to the Lord daily for strength and guidance. He wanted everyone he knew or came in contact with to love the Lord and serve Him.
David was a carpenter by trade. He had worked on jet planes, many construction sites in Oregon, Texas, and Arizona. David had the opportunity to travel through the United States with a company that presented inspiration instructional videos to children and youth. The last few years David was a professional truck driver, driving many miles to deliver milk to the processing plants.
David was a man of faith. He loved the Lord, he loved the outdoors, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. He participated in jail ministries, handing out bibles, and visiting the shut-in with his therapy dogs Doc and Mrs. Chubs. His grandson was the highlight of the last few months and brought joy to him and his family.
David's life mission was to serve the Lord. His greatest joy was to share the Gospel with any and all he met. He and his wife Laura are one of the founding Team Ministers for Celebrate Recovery at Legacy Life Family Church.
David is survived by his wife Laura, daughter Taya Marie Gomez (George); grandson Angel David Gomez; god-daughter Heaven Lopez; mother-in-law Paulette Leeder; aunt and uncle Bill and Pauline Campbell. Surviving David are his five sisters Eva Martinez, Margie Sanchez, Linda (George) Morales, Stella (Ernest) Montelongo, and Becky (Scott) Anderson. David is also survived by his brother Jesse (Gloria) Martinez and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents Jesus and Anita Martinez; sisters Theresa Vela, Beatrice Barron, Theodora Deluna, Guadalupe Villareal, and Rosie Martinez; brothers Rudy Martinez and Ramon Martinez, father-in-law Guy Leeder; and sister-in-law Taya Brook Leeder.
David will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Celebrate Recovery Ministries at Legacy Life Family Church.
