David Neikirk was born on February 18, 1932, in Whiteside Missouri to R.A. Neikirk and Helen Neikirk. He went to school at Eolia and Clarksville Missouri. He married Mary Louise Bryant on December 5, 1953, in a secret place only they knew. He worked at various jobs in Missouri and Western Illinois for three years before moving to New Mexico while working for the state highway department. He worked at several other road related jobs and got a job at Shur-Gro Irrigation repairing Valley sprinklers, which led to him and another employee inventing an injection pump to apply fertilizer through a sprinkler. They borrowed money from the owners of Shur-Gro and bought them out several years later and Inject-O-Meter was born. He spent his remaining life building a worldwide successful business.
David and his wife, Mary, liked to travel in their motor home. David got immense joy from fishing in ponds all over the country with cherished family and friends. He was a Deacon and long-time member of Central Baptist Church.
