Celebration of Life Services for Debbie Old, 64, of Clovis, will be held Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 10:00am at 16th and Pile Church of Christ with Don McCasland and Bill Belich officiating. After a courageous battle against ovarian cancer, Debbie gained her eternal reward on the evening of December 25, 2011.
Debbie was born on January 12, 1947 in Nolan County, Texas to Al and Jo Lee. When she was a small child, her family moved to Hereford, TX where she graduated from high school in 1965. Debbie later went on to attend Lubbock Christian College where she met and fell in love with her lifelong companion and best friend, Ben Old and they married on February 11, 1967. They moved to Clovis in 1970 where they made their home and raised their daughters, Tanna and Amy.
Debbie drove a school bus for Adair Transportation for over 30 years, loving and serving the children and the families on her routes. She was also a talented and gifted seamstress, sewing for friends and family and new friends from the community. She had projects big and small, from wedding parties to hemlines. She was a member of the 16th and Pile Church of Christ where she was a beloved cradle roll teacher. Debbie was a tireless volunteer for her church, her childrens schools, and later her grandchildrens library. Her most valued possession was her family and her most beloved role was that of Memmie to her grandchildren and all the little ones she met. She will be most remembered for the sweetness of her life that touched everyone that knew her her life a living testament of her faith and for her love for the Lord.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Ben of the home, her daughters and their husbands, Tanna and Bobby Phillips of Sudan, Texas and Amy and Ricky Wilson of Clovis and her grandchildren Carson and Rori Phillips and Kyle and Shelby Wilson and a host of life long, dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Al and Jo Lee.
Pall bearers will be Cory Adair, Gene Brown, Fred Eichenberger, Bill Martin, Layne Norris and Doug Young. Honorary pall bearers are her grandchildren, Carson and Rori Phillips and Kyle and Shelby Wilson, Mr. Kenny Carson and her friends and coworkers of Adair Transportation. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society in her honor.
