Donald Boydstun

Donald Powell Boydstun was born July 12, 1944 to Powell and Juanita Hopper Boydstun in Clovis, NM and passed away at his home on March 11, 2011 at age of 66 surrounded by his loving family. He was a lifelong resident of Clovis NM. He was the youngest of 5 children and the only son. On June 4, 1966 he married Sharon Borden in Clovis, NM and they were married for 44 years.

As a child, he attended grade school at Center School, and was a member of the first class of Gattis Junior High. He was a 1962 graduate of Clovis High School. After graduating high school, he went to work in Clovis for Lang Transit for four years, briefly worked for Redball Freight, then worked for ICX for 17 years, and Merchants Freight for 14 years as an independent contractor. He finished his freight career with RAC Transport retiring in 2009. He was known for his integrity and honesty, and had numerous faithful customers that became good friends.

During all of those years, he also farmed the family farm southwest of Clovis farming was one of his true passions. Another true passion was watching his children and then grandchildren playing sports. Donald was always a family first man. He loved his family and was always there for all of them. He was also an avid Clovis Wildcat fan. He also loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Utah Jazz. Donald was a member of Parkland Baptist Church. He trusted God faithfully all through life and in his last days.

He is survived by his wife Sharon of the home two sons, Wayne Boydstun of Clovis, and Kevin Boydstun of Cedar Hill, TX one daughter, Shelli Boydstun of Cedar Hill, TX three grandsons all of Clovis, Ryan Boydstun and wife Shawna, Aaron Boydstun and wife Amanda, and Brandon Boydstun three greatgrandsons, Jace, Aadon, and Trenton all of Clovis three sisters, Patricia Goodnight and husband Raymond of Summerville, TX, Shirley Hart of Irving, TX, and Beverly Lockmiller and husband Gary of Clovis motherinlaw, Sadie Borden of Rosebud, TX brotherinlaw, Billy D. Borden and wife Barbara of Rosebud, TX numerous nieces and nephews and his two buddies, Dixie, the dog and, Festus, the cat.

He was preceded in death by his parents sister, Barbara Timmons and her husband James brotherinlaw, Robert Hart and fatherinlaw, Billie E. Borden.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 14, at SteedTodd Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Parkland Baptist Church with Pastor Bruce Kirby officiating and Marshall Fair assisting. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories. Pallbearers will be Ryan Boydstun, Aaron Boydstun, Brandon Boydstun, Gary Lockmiller, Jr., David Goodnight, Mark Timmons, Andy Hart, Henry Heaney, and Darrell Goodnight. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Dons nephews, Raymond Goodnight, Gary Lockmiller, Sr., Jerry Spear, Vernon Aucutt, Mike Willmon, Robert Snell, Wayne Martin, Bernard Turnipseed, Billy Borden, Doug Reid, Gary Elliot, J.C. Boone, Ervin Stidham, Jimmy Denton, and Dwight Sheriff.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Operation Christmas Child at Parkland Baptist Church, 921 Parkland, Clovis, NM 88101.
