Donald Dutton

Mr. Donald Ray Dutton was called to his heavenly home to be with the Lord Jesus, on July 15, 2021, at his home in Clovis, New Mexico, surrounded by loved ones. Mr. Dutton was born on November 17, 1934, in Marlow, Oklahoma to parents Oscar Johnnie and Eliza Marie (Huddleston) Dutton. Don married his soulmate and best friend, Clara (Smith) Dutton, on October 9, 1959, in Lubbock, Texas. Clara and Donald celebrated 57 beautiful years of marriage together.

Don grew up in the farming community and was a “typical ornery boy” according to his Mama. He started working farms at a very early age, and cotton was his favorite crop to raise. Donald continued farming until he moved his family to Clovis, NM in 1969 and opened the Gulf station on 7th street before taking over Mabry Dr. Phillips 66. Clara and Donald ran the station together for 30 years before retiring in Clovis. Like most hard workers, Donald never fully retired and after retirement his favorite past time of choice, was buying and selling vehicles. When Mr. Donald gave up the station he would join up with pal Ben Steinman buying and selling cars until Mr. Ben retired and then joined up with Larry Gouker until he retired as well.

Mr. Donald Dutton will always be remembered by family members as someone who was loved and respected by many. His children thank God for blessing them with such a wonderful man for a Daddy!

Mr. Dutton is preceded in death by his loving wife; Clara Dutton, parents; Oscar and Marie, stepfather; Roy McBride, two sisters; Wanda June Dutton and Minnie Weatherford.

Mr. Donald Dutton is survived by his sister; Joy Safranik of Gloucester, VA, his son; Roger Dutton of Clovis, NM, daughter; LaDonna (Gene) Martin of Clovis, and son Dennis (Anna) Dutton of Clovis, NM. Mr. Dutton is also survived by 7 grandchildren; Nate Cureton, Katrina Davies, Kendra Griego, Angel Roldan, Adam Hernandez, Andrew Roldan, and Dennis Dutton Jr. Mr. Dutton is also survived by 13 incredible great grandchildren; Avery Anino, Aria Anino, Brynli Griego, Ezlyn Griego, Aiden Davies, Alanna Hernandez, Brielle Hernandez, Autumn Hernandez, Michael Hernandez, Andrew Paul Roldan Jr. Nickolas Roldan, Cylus Roldan, and Daniel Roldan.

A visitation for Mr. Dutton will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at the Steed Todd Funeral Home, from 9:00am to 12:30pm, and a service will be held immediately following the visitation at 2:00pm, at the Parkland Baptist Church in Clovis, New Mexico. Mr. Dutton’s service will be officiated by Wayne Boydstun and Dennis Durfee. Pall bearers for Mr. Dutton include Michael Walton, Benny Schoonover, Isaac Schoonover, Royce Chance, Jeremy Schoonover, and Dennis Dutton Jr.
