Doris Venita Widner, 91, of Clovis, NM, passed away on July 22, 2015 in her home surrounded by family and friends.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday July 24 at Steed-Todd Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday July 25 at 21st Street Church of Christ with Ken Cable officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Cemetery. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home.
Doris was born in Duncan, Oklahoma to Joe and Sarah Lillie Caywood on October 20, 1923. She married Wiley Widner on September 7, 1946 at 1st Baptist Church in Clovis. She worked as a school lunch room worker and manager for Clovis Public Schools for 25 years. She was an active member of the 21st Street Church of Christ from its founding to the present. She participated in Curry County Extension club. In her last three years, she resided at Wheatfields Senior Living and made new friends from the staff and residents adding to her circle of cherished friends.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Kenneth Widner, and a grandson Timothy Gallagher. Also preceding her in death are her six brothers; Elvert, Fred, Eugene, Ernest, Robert, and Elzie Caywood and her five sisters; Wilma Scales, Mable Wolfe, Mona Akers, Pauline Wimberly, Evelyn Green, and four Caywood infant siblings.
Doris is survived by three sons; Ronald and wife Teresa Widner, David and wife Starla Widner, and Terry and wife Susan Widner and by two daughters; Venita and husband Frank Gallagher, and Dorothy and husband James Wilson. She was survived as well by seven grandsons; Robert, Jeremy, Michael, and Christopher Widner, Craig Parkman, Jeffery Gallagher, and Preston Wilson; and six granddaughters; Stephanie Widner, Teresa Gallagher, Rebekah Chappel, Angela Weaver, Kerry Markin, and Jennifer Markiewicz. Survivors also include seven great granddaughters and eleven great grandsons .
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and close friends.
Memorials may be given to Sexual Assault Victims Advocacy, in care of Jennifer Jones 4812 S. College Ave., Fort Collins, CO 80525. The family of Doris wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. David Stalker, Gentiva Hospice, and Wheatfields Senior Living.
