She really enjoyed riding the family horse, Bluebellbrwhen she had free time. Her parents
orced when she was 16, but she stayed and finished school in Pleasant Hill while living with her father, several sisters brothers. After graduation she moved to Clovis and lived with her mother and two sisters Betty Nora Alice. Dorothy worked at Alexander Drug Store. ln the early 1950s she moved to Portales, were her father and siblings moved. She started working at the B J Drug Store as a Fountain Clerk. Dorothy enjoyed people and loved to go to Midway and dance. She met Richard O. Dubbs Smith while working at B J Drug Store. They became good friends and married in April 1954. They moved to Hobbs, New Mexico where their son, Ricky, was born in 1955. Later the family moved back to Portales from 1956 1968 then to Tatum, New Mexico from 1968 1974 where Dubbs retired from the State Highway Department. ln Portales, Dorothy belonged to the East Valley View Crafting Club. She moved to Clovis in 1974 and in 1994 entered Prairie Acres Nursing Home where she was deeply loved. She was a member of Parkland Baptist Church.br
