Dorothy May OMeallie Sullivan, 92, of Clovis, a retired Telephone Operator, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Retirement Ranch in Clovis.
She was born April 17, 1920, in New Orleans, LA, to Thomas Patrick and Mary Cecile Stubbs OMeallie.
Dorothy married Peter Raymond Sullivan on September 1, 1948 in Bay St. Louis, MS.
She moved to Pittsburgh, PA were she raised their 8 children. In 1967 she and Peter moved to New Orleans, LA., and lived there for 10 years working for Southern Bell Telephone. She and Peter then moved to Amarillo, TX., and she transferred to Southwestern Bell Telephone and worked as a Telephone Operator until she retired. In 1996 they moved to Clovis living here until her death.
Dorothy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amarillo, TX, where she was an active member of the St Rita Circle and she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clovis, NM.
Dorothy enjoyed going to the neonatal unit while in Amarillo to hold the premature babies and taking doll clothes in for them to wear. She loved to travel and visit all her children, shopping, reading and poetry.
Dorothy is survived by her children Mary Ann Lingnau and husband Edwin Ed of Clovis, NM, Eileen Elizabeth Dannheim of Amarillo, TX, Peter Raymond Sullivan, Jr. and wife Patrice of New Orleans, LA, Thomas Patrick Sullivan and wife Catherine of Portales, NM, Kathleen Marie Sullivan of Cookeville, TN, Terrance Michael Sullivan of Amarillo, TX, Dorothy Rose Carroll and husband Patrick of Bakersfield, CA, and John Joseph Sullivan of Amarillo, TX. One sister Mary Gloria OMeallie DeRocha of New Orleans, LA 23 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, niece Peggy Kelly of Hacienda Heights, CA and numerous other nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her Husband Peter Raymond Sullivan in 1999, her parents, 1 brother Harry Thomas OMeallie, her aunt who raised her Elizabeth Nana Stubbs OMeallie, grandchild Mary Gordzelik, 3 great grandchildren Suzanna Jilek, Theophilus Verner, and Lillian Rose Sullivan.
A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clovis.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, April 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Carlos Chavez will be the celebrant.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis, NM. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Steed Todd Funeral Home 800 E. Manana Blvd Clovis, NM 88101 575 7635541 www.steedtodd.com. Memorial contributions may be made to your local chapter of the American Red Cross in her name.
