Dorothy Zula Ward, 85, of Evans, WV, went home to be with Jesus, and her family in Heaven, on November 24, 2006 at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, following a brief illness.
She was born December 13, 1920 in McPhearson, OK, a daughter of the late Joseph Campbell and Zuna Lewis Terrell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Burton Oliver Ward; brothers, Onas, Marvin, and Joseph C., Jr.; sisters, Hazel and Raneta.
She was a telephone operator during the Korean War and would later become a beautician. She was a former cashier at the Simmons Trading Post on the White River Indian Reservation in Arizona. She enjoyed square dancing, and was a member of the Evans-Cottageville Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Tanoa C. and Ladene Ward of Gallup, NM; daughter and son-in-law, Delores Dee and Jerald Sonny Fox of Evans; grandchildren, James E. Fox, Tonja and her husband Jeffrey Jay Oakes, Samantha Ward-Johnson, and her husband Brian, and Max Ward; great grandchildren, Shad Fox, and Harper Johnson.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, November 30, 2006 at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens, Clovis, NM, with the Rev. Dan Pearce officiating.
