Dorris Sharp

Dorris Shuford Sharp, age 88, passed away on April 9, 2012 in Clovis, New Mexico.

Dorris was born on August 18, 1923 in Carroll County, Tennessee to John Henry and Henrie McCollum Shuford. She grew up and attended college in Tennessee. Dorris married Tasso Houston Sharp on April 5, 1943 in Gibson County, Tennessee. Dorris and Tasso raised their family in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. After retiring, they moved to Greenfield, Tennessee. Dorris was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Greenfield, the very church her husband was baptized in. The past nine years, Dorris has lived in the PortalesClovis area to be close to her daughters and sonsin law.

Dorris is survived by her husband, Tasso Sharp three daughters: Nancy Ann Foley of Clovis, New Mexico, Karen Elizabeth Dr. Lon Alexander of Portales, New Mexico and Susan Ellen Edd Matheny of Farmington, New Mexico three grandchildren: Daniel Aubrey Alexander, Michaela Alexander and Jason Danielle Stoltz six great grandchildren: Jaden, Chloe and Mia Alexander Jocelyn and Jackson Stoltz and Kash Matheny nieces: Dorris Ann Bell, LeMon McCartney and Wendy Henry nephews: Jim and Bill Denton, Stephen Sharp and Wallace Shuford brotherinlaw: Winfred Sharp and several wonderful great and great great nieces and nephews .

She was preceded in death by her parents two brothers: Hulen and John Wayne Shuford sister: LaVerne Denton grandson: Chad Matheny soninlaw: Harry Foley and sistersinlaw: Montess Robertson, Maggie Shuford, Sally Sharp and brotherinlaw: Ted Denton.

Memorial Services will be held in late spring at Cool Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lavinia, Tennessee. The exact date will be announced online at www.steedtodd.com and in The Weakley County Press, Dresden Enterprise and the Carroll County News Leader.
