Dorthoy, 'Dottie' Jean Lokken (Kennon/Staggers) passed away Monday, the 13th of May, 2024 in Clovis, New Mexico.
Dottie was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on February 18, 1948. She was raised in Greenwood to Percy and Ima Scott. Dottie went to Southside High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas, her graduating class was the first at the school. She went on to get married and have two children, Kristi and Greg Kennon. After ultimately leaving that marriage, Dottie went on to be a hard-working single mom to her two children. She often worked two jobs to support her family, practicing as a bookkeeper and bartending at night. She went on to find a living at Burford Distributing where she ultimately retired in 2010.
Dottie had the unique journey to have found love at 70 years old when she met her husband, Richard Lokken. They wed on September 29, 2018 in Arkansas with an intimate ceremony with their closest family and friends.
Dottie was spirited, charming, boujie, and had the most contagious laugh you ever heard. She started each day with a Diet Dr. Pepper, loved being in her yard gardening, and would never say no to a warm Krispy Kreme Donut. She loved jewelry and anything sparkly. If she had a free afternoon, she would spend it getting her nails done and shopping at her favorite clothing stores. Old Navy, Target, and Cato's held a special place in her heart. Any one who knew her knew that she had a deep love for calling the hogs and cheering on her beloved Arkansas Razorbacks. She had a love for college basketball, especially after watching her son play in high school and college.
Dottie is survived by her husband, Richard Lokken, daughter Kristi Mackey, son Gregory Kennon, her son-in-law, three step children, eight grandkid's, and four great-grandkid's.
Ask any of her grandkid's and they would tell you that she was unlike any other granny out there, from her sense of humor to her sense of style. Some of her grandkid's favorite memories involve McDonald's breakfast runs, dancing to Queen in their living room, her famous graham cracker sandwiches, and spending afternoons binge-watching The Game Show Network.
A viewing will be held Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Steed-Todd Funeral Home in Clovis, New Mexico followed by a private celebration of life for immediate family members. Dottie will be deeply missed by all those who knew her. But we know she is smiling down on all those having a Diet Dr. Pepper and Mexican food in her honor.
