E. Christesson

E. Doyle Christesson, 73, died Sunday, November 26, 2006 at his home in Melrose. He was born March 28, 1933 west of Melrose at Cottonwood Grove to Elzie John and Louise Christesson. He and his wife, Cathy, were married May 12, 1979 in Clovis.

He was a barber for 43 years, the last 25 years at his shop in Melrose along with a boot and saddle repair shop. He loved fishing, woodworking, tending his land and livestock, and going to the Melrose ball games. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

He was a member of the Melrose Church of Christ, a charter member of the Melrose Lions Club, a past president of the Melrose Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Melrose Masonic Lodge.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Billy Ray Christesson, in 1965, his father in 1990, and his mother in 2002.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy, of the home; one sister Nancy Starrett Dalton of Tiburon, California; two sons, Darrell Diane Christesson of Clovis, and Matt Jennifer Lukens of Barney, Georgia; three daughters, Nina Wayne Bracken of Wolfforth, Texas, Tami Pete Wishert of Snyder, Texas, and Lora Chris Followill of Melrose; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog, Cami.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 29 at the Melrose Church of Christ with burial to follow at Melrose Memorial Cemetery. Otho Rogers will officiate. Casket Bearers will be Ray Hester, J. E. Knight, Deon Dodd, Joe Bill Montgomery, Wendell Belcher, and Bill Strand.

Honorary casket bearers will be his friends and neighbors and his lodge brothers.

Contributions may be made to Vista Care Hospice at 2708 N. Prince Street in Clovis, New Mexico.
