Eddie Dunsworth of Texico, NM passed away comfortably in the Plains Regional Medical Center Monday afternoon on August 25, 2014.
Eddie was born in Portales, NM on August 6, 1940 to Evans and Margurite Dunsworth. He was the youngest of 10 siblings.
After graduating from Portales High School he attended Barber College. He married Rita on October 7, 1962 in Floyd, NM. He also served in the New Mexico National Guard for six years. After working a few years as a Barber, he worked as a Carpenter up until his retirement in 2010. His most enjoyable work was donating his carpenter skills on the church missions in Mexico and the Navajo Reservation. He thoroughly enjoyed Texas Rangers Baseball, reading Western novels, supporting Texico Wolverines Athletics, and attending his grandchildrens sporting events.
Eddie and Rita moved to Texico in 1972 where he has touched the lives of many friends. Soon after moving, they joined the First Baptist Church where he has been a faithful member. His goal in life was to help his neighbors and friends using his carpentry skills.
Eddies lifetime dream was to visit Alaska. He and his wife achieved that dream in September of 2006 on a sea and land excursion.
He is preceded in death by a daughter Tonya Cannaday, five siblings, and both parents.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rita Dunsworth who spent 51 wonderful years together, children Jeff Dunsworth and his Wife Denise of Austin, TX, Ronnie and his wife Angie of Corona, NM and Chad of Denver, CO, soninlaw Vance Cannaday of Aurora, CO, four siblings Ben E. B.E. Dunsworth of Joshua, TX, Kenneth Dunsworth of Portales, NM, Doris Martin of Logan, NM, and Pat Yarbrough of Lubbock, TX, as well as his grandchildren David, Payton and Daniel.
Services will be 2:00 PM Friday August 29, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Texico, NM followed by graveside services at the Texico Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Eddie Dunsworth Memorial Fund through the First Baptist Church of Texico P.O. Box 296, Texico, NM 88135. A viewing will be on Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 57 PM at SteedTodd in Clovis.
