Eddie Mae Nance, 82, of Clovis, formerly of Silsbee, TX, went home to be with the Lord Friday, December 15, 2006, in Lubbock, TX, at Southwest Regional Skilled Rehabilitation Center.

She was born January 9, 1924, in Silsbee, TX to the late Mr. and Mrs. Will McDonald of Silsbee. Mother Eddie Mae Nance was known for her great hospitality and a dear friend to the many she came in contact with. She loved everyone and showed love to everyone.

Mrs. Eddie Mae was a faithful member of St. Johns Baptist Church for 58 years. She was the president of the Womens Mission Union, and served on the Usher Board for more than 40 years. She was awarded a plaque from the Mount Olive State Baptist Convention for her faithful service as an usher in October, 2003. She was voted Woman of Character by her peers for Mothers Day in 2003. She worked in the Clovis School System for 20 years. She believed in people furthering their education and would always say, once you have it they cant take it away. She worked at Wal-Mart for 12 years as a door greeter, as a volunteer worker as a Pink Lady at Clovis High Plains Hospital, and she also worked at the Golden Age Retirement Home. She held the position of State Chairman of Arts and Crafts for Tan Terrific Federate Womens Club, and she was a member of the National Association of Color Inc. She was a great foster parent for several children in Clovis and other states. Her main hobby was knitting and quilting for her grandchildren and those she loved most of all. She loved being a servant for the Lord. She touched everyone who knew her. She will be missed greatly.

Survivors include one daughter, Elise Jones Robert of Detroit, MI; three sons, Richard Nance Kelley, of Oklahoma, Wallace Nance Rosemary and Dwayne Nance Diane, both of Clovis; three sisters, Naomi Cross of Silsbee, TX, Alma Jean Garrett of Louisiana, and Theresa Powell of Oakland, CA. She had nine grandchildren, Trina, Keisha, Richard Eric, Nathan, Ryan, Warrick, Warfield, Kerwin, and Krystal, and sixteen Great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; one brother, W. J. McDonald; and four sisters, Zenobea, Mary Lee, Mildred, and Ann Louis.

Services will be held Friday, Dec. 22, 2006 at St. Johns Baptist Church in Clovis at 3:00 P.M. Rev. Joe L. Callahan will officiate. Honorary Casket Bearers will be her grandsons.
