Edith Julia Davis Brown, a former resident of Clovis, NM died September 23, 2010 at the age of 96. She was born May 12, 1914 in Cleburne, TX. She finished high school in Post, TX. After obtaining her cosmetology license she moved to Silverton, TX where she met and married Durward L. Brown on July 3, 1938. They raised their family in Plainview, TX and later retired to Clovis, NM.
Edith was a member of the High Plains Regional Medical Centers Auxiliary for 15 years where she held various offices during her tenure. She was a member of the scholarship committee, and was honored many times for her service. She was a member of Parkland Baptist Church.
She is survived by three children, Betty Wilmeth of Clovis, NM Jeanette Wise of Atlanta, GA and Lewis Shirley Brown of Aurora, CO eight grandchildren, seventeen greatgrandchildren and one greatgreat grandchild. Her husband preceded her in 1991.
There will be a graveside service at the cemetery in Silverton, TX on Tuesday, September 28 at 11 a.m. CST. The family will be at SteedTodd Funeral Home for visitation on Monday evening from 57 p.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions to the Pink Lady Auxiliary Scholarship Fund, 2100 MLK Blvd., Clovis, NM 88101.
