Edith Roberts

Edith Roberts, age 81, passed away on July 15, 2012 at BSA Hospice in Amarillo, Texas.

Edith was born on March 31, 1931 in Artesia, New Mexico to Forrest and Emmaline Vogel Houghtaling. She grew up on a cotton farm and worked as a bookkeeper at a bank in Artesia. She met and then married Bill J. Roberts on December 29, 1957 in Artesia, New Mexico. They moved to Field, New Mexico in 1963. They farmed and ranched until Bill passed away in 2011.
Edith was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She made the best fried chicken.

Edith is survived by one daughter: Karen Roberts Lesley Brown of Amarillo, Texas three grandsons: Chase Kristy Roberts of Melrose, New Mexico, Cutter Roberts of Melrose, New Mexico and Andy BrownRoberts of Amarillo, Texas two granddaughters: Grace Brown Roberts and Katherine Brown Roberts, both of Amarillo, Texas one great granddaughter: Rylee Roberts of Melrose, New Mexico two great grandsons: Guner and Gage Roberts of Melrose, New Mexico one brother JR Houghtaling of Artesia, New Mexico one sister: Rosie Malone of Artesia, New Mexico and one daughter in law: Sheila Roberts of Melrose, New Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill J. Roberts her parents one son: Kevin Roberts in 2001 and one grandson: Kyke Roberts in 1985 two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at SteedTodd Funeral Home, 800 E. Manana Blvd, Clovis, New Mexico.

Graveside Services are at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Melrose Cemetery in Melrose, New Mexico with Joby Houghtaling officiating. Honorary casket bearers are all of Ediths family and friends.
