Mrs. Edna Burnett, 103, of Portales, died Thursday, July 14, 2005, at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales. She was born on April 9, 1902, in Waco, Texas to Charles and Mary Belle Wortham.brbrShe moved to Causey in 1906. She married Arther Edward Burnett on May 5, 1928, in Portales. She loved quilting, sewing, cross-stitching, gardening and tending to her flowers. She was a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Portales.brbrShe is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Viola Walker; seven sisters; and three brothers.brbrSurvivors include three daughters, Jessie Whitehead of Grady, Wanda Hendrix of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Vera Thompson of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; two sons, Alton Burnett of Sundown, Texas, and LeRoy Burnett of Rock Springs, Wyoming; two brothers, Ralph Wortham of Andrews, Texas, and Hugh Wortham of California; 29 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; and 46 great-great-grandchildren.brbrServices will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Portales with Rev. Walter Huber officiating. Burial will follow at Portales Cemetery. Pallbearers are Wade Whitehead, Ricky Hendrix, Eddie Burnett, David Walker, Jess Whitehead, Rodney Burnett and William Whitehead.brbrMemorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Childrens Home in Portales.brbrArrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home, 800 E.
