Elizabeth Ohr Kirksey, 86, of Clovis, New Mexico, died Wednesday, September 17, 2008. The family will receive visitors Friday, September 19, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Steed Todd Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 20, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church with Pastor Alan McAlister and Dr. Herbert Bergstrom officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
Beth was born to Fred and Anna Brownell Ohr on November 11, 1921, in Clovis, New Mexico. She married her high school sweetheart, Ed Kirksey, in the summer of 1942 and they recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Beth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who enjoyed doing for others. She worked as a school secretary at Parkview Elementary and Zia Elementary until her retirement.
She is survived by her husband Ed, daughters Ardeth Lonnie Leslie, Edwina Porter, all of Clovis, son Charles Radka Kirksey of Oakton, Virginia; grandsons, Blake Leslie of Dallas, Texas, Milan Simanek, Oakton, Virginia; granddaughters Kenda Blake Stephenson of Odessa, Texas, and Kera Mike Dunham of Hobbs, New Mexico; sister Ethel Rose of Albany, Oregon; twin brother Bill Jo Ohr of Monroe, Michigan; great grandchildren Austin, Haydin, Dyllin Gallegos, Ambrei Dunham, and Kaleb Joshua Stephenson.
Pallbearers are Kyle Parker, Jack Muse, Milan Simanek, Blake Leslie, Ben McDaniel, and Blake Stephenson. Honorary pallbearers are all members of the Charlies Angels Sunday School Class and Deacons of Central Baptist Church. Donations may be made to the Baptist Childrens Home in Beths memory, P. O. Box 629, Portales, New Mexico 88130.
