Ellen Bostwick

Ellen Nora Bostwick, 79, of Meirose, New Mexico, joined her Heavenly Father on August 1, 2008, at the Clovis Health Care Rehabilitation Center. BR

Ellen was the fifth of eight children born to Ed and Ollie Bigler in Bell County, Texas on April 17, 1929. She married Darrel Bostwick on December 23, 1945, in Anton, Texas. In 1962 Darrel and Ellen made their home in Melrose, New Mexico. She and Darrel raised three Sons in Melrose where she was a vital member of the community. Ellen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. During her life she was a bookkeeper and a cotton buyer. Ellen was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and faithfully served her Lord. She also was an active member of the Chamber of Commerce and other civic organizations. BR

She was known as Grandma Ellen not only by her grandchildren, but also by many other Melrose children who needed a grandma. Sweet memories of her laughter, smile, and deep love for family and friends will be treasured by all who were blessed to share in her life. BR

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Ollie Bigler; two sisters, Lydia Ernest and Addie Mae McGinnis; and one brother, Leonard Buck Bigler. She is survived by her husband, Darrel of Meirose; three sons and daughtersin-law, Wendell and Joanna Bostwick of Melrose, Sammy Ray and Paula Bostwick of Amarillo, Texas, and James and Sherolyn Bostwick of Clovis; and six grandchildren Rex Bostwick, Alton Bostwick, Chad Bostwick and wife Brandi, Toby Bostwick and wife Kimberly, Monte Bostwick and wife Mandy, and Tandee Delk and husband Neal; plus 15 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Emil Bigler of Fort Sumner and Ishmael Panny Bigler of Floyd; and two sisters Ruby Stevenson of Lubbock and Mary Ann Vidlar of Floyd; and numerous nieces and nephews. BR

Services will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at 10:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church in Melrose. Burial will follow immediately at the Melrose cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rex Bostwick, Alton Bostwick, Chad Bostwick, Toby Bostwick, Monte Bostwick, and Neal Delk.Arrangements are under the direction of Steed Todd Funeral Home 800 E.
