Ellen Judah

Ellen Ann Caillouet Judah left her earthly home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 4, 2009. She passed from this life after brief illness in Lubbock, Texas. She was born in Greenville, Mississippi to Lewis and Helen Caillouet on October 8, 1946; she then moved to Texico, New Mexico at age two. She lived with her father and grandmother Judy Houghtling on the family farm from age eleven until she married.

She married the love of her life, George Grant Judah, in her family home on October 7, 1967. They were married nearly 42 years. To this union was born one son George Louis Louie Judah, he presented them with two precious grandchildren Harleigh and Brandon Judah. She is survived by her husband George; son Louie, and her two grandchildren Harleigh and Brandon. She is also survived by her sister Peggy Box of Moriarty, New Mexico, and her brother Donald and wife Corky Caillouet of Ulysses, Kansas. She is survived by her mother-in-law Essie Judah of Clovis and by many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents and her brother Joe Caillouet of California.

She grew up in Texico and graduated there in 1965. She spent many hours in her youth riding and caring for her horses. She loved animals, gardening, and raising beautiful flowers. She was very artistic and ' enjoyed tole painting, sewing, and making many beautiful quilts of which she shared with her family. Her favorite hobby was reading.

Ann was a loving wife and considered her husband to be her best friend. They enjoyed traveling and did everything together. She was George's business partner and his partner in their life's adventure. They built and owned many businesses including their car business and storage facilities. During her life she worked at Houston Lumber Company as a bookkeeper, at K-mart, A M Building Systems, and at Bender's Car Dealership.

She was a loving and caring grandmother, who spent many pleasurable hours reading with her grandchildren. She enjoyed taking them to many activities, especially to church with her. She encouraged them to be the best they could be.

Ann gave her life to Jesus and became a member of Texico Baptist Church on January 11, 1976. She was faithful to serve the Lord until her death, and she shared her belief and love for the Lord with many. She delivered meals on wheels for many years and loved spending time visiting with the shut-ins. She was the church librarian for many years in the past. She was a certified precepts instructor and assisted in teaching adult Sunday School classes. In the past she worked several years in the youth department. She was always there to encourage, pray, and uplift her family and friends. She will be missed by many.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Texico with Pastor Rob Hollis officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a memorial fund in her name at First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 296, Texico, New Mexico 88135 or to the Baptist Childrens Home, P. O. Box 629, Portales, NM 88130.
