Ellen Lawrence

Services for Ellen Marie Scott Lawrence age 55 of Melrose will be held Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Melrose with Danny Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens at 1:30 p.m. in Clovis. Mrs. Lawrence was born January 20, 1953 in Clovis, New Mexico to Lee James and Juanita Wilson Scott. She passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at the St. Anthony Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Clovis. She grew up on the family farm in St. Vrain and graduated from Melrose High School in 1971. She married Paul Fields and they had one son Scott Fields. She remarried Joseph Lawrence and they had three children, Jodi, Lonee and Samuel Lawrence. She worked as a meter reader for Farmers Electric in Clovis for 14 years. Ellen was a member of the Melrose United Methodist Church and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 77 in Logan, New Mexico. She enjoyed making Indian Crafts, being outdoors and crocheting blankets. She had just finished blankets for all her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lonee and husband Preston Downey of St. Vrain, New Mexico; Jodi and husband Jared of Roswell, New Mexico; two sons Scott Fields of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Samuel Lawrence of St Vrain, New Mexico. Her father Lee Sam James Scott and his wife Bea of Logan, New Mexico; one sister Charlotte Estes and her husband Glen of Wichita Falls, Texas; two brothers Nathan Sammy Scott of St. Vrain, New Mexico and Lonnie and wife Amy Scott of Gunter, Texas and eight grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother Juanita Scott and one son Wesley Lockmiller.

Honorary casket bearers will be Larry Bright, Brad Williams, Bucky Minton, Johnny Crozier, Rudy Casaus, Jonathan Ingram, Barry Bass and Eric Rusk.
