Emma Barris

July 20, 1924 — February 7, 2014

After a life spanning 89 years, Emma Barris of Clovis passed away in her home on Friday, February 7, 2014. She was born on July 20, 1924 in Ft. Sumner.

Emma was the oldest of four daughters born to parents Jose Miguel and Florence Lujan. She was preceded in death by her sisters Delores Dora Madrid, who passed away in 2008 and Antonia Toni Hedricks, who died in 1991.

Married to W. H. Cubby Barris in 1948, Emma bore three children Mary Kathryn Casey Barris, Richard Barris and Esther May Mark Steinle. She rejoined her husband, Cubby who passed away in 2002.

Emma Barris, a faithful member of First Baptist Church, worked for the Clovis Municipal Schools until she retired. Her favorite activities included camping, hunting and fishing with lifelong friends Sam and Juanita Scott and Cletis and Joyce Lough, all deceased.

She is survived by her sister, Becky Dominquez, her children, grand daughters Tishia Stewart and Vanessa Millender and great grandchildren Daniel Graham, Heather Price, Asher and Ashlyn Millender.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 11 at 11:30 a.m. at SteedTodd Funeral Home Chapel with Joel Horne and Alan McAlister officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis. Arrangements are under the direction of Steed Todd Funeral Home 800 E.
