Emma Mcdermid

Emma Rae McDermid, 13, of Texico, NM has entered into the gates of Heaven on February 3, 2018 in Clovis, NM, surrounded by her loving family.
Emma was born on September 2, 2004 to David and Nikki Williams McDermid. Emma Rae was born and raised in Clovis and Texico. She briefly attended the Texico Preschool, where she loved to watch and interact with all the children and teachers. She and her family were members of Central Baptist Church, and she had many, many people there who were very special to her. In 2010, Emma became very ill and since then she was homebound. Her nurse, Julie was like family, and she loved and cared for Emma Rae until the very end.
Emma Rae loved to listen to music and be talked to. She had an amazing laugh and the brightest smile. Her eyes would light up when she heard a familiar voice. She loved to take walks outside and swing. When she was younger, she loved to ride in her stroller with her brothers pushing her and shaking the stroller while yelling "earthquake". She loved loud, noisy conversations and songs, which her brothers and cousins were always happy to provide. Emma Rae had many obstacles in her short life, and she overcame many of them. Emma was a brilliant example of God's love, joy, and acceptance. While we are sad for our loss, we rejoice knowing that Emma Rae is now healthy and happy resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her mother, Nikki McDermid of Texico, NM and father, David McDermid of Portales, NM; brothers, Paden and Connor of Texico, NM; grandparents, JE and Billye Sue Williams of Clovis, NM, Rod and Ama McDermid of Portales, NM; aunts and uncles, Scott and Dawn Williams of Bartlesville, OK, Darren and Jan Williams of Clovis, NM, Mark and Tonya Yoesting of Texico, NM.
Steed Todd Funeral Home will host visitation on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 9:00am to 8:00pm. Emma's Celebration of Life service will be held at Central Baptist Church, 2501 N. Norris, on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 10:00am. Pallbearers will be her cousins: Kayna, Turner, Cooper, Landon, Abby Williams; and Katlyn, Madilyn, Sydnee Cook.
