Ernest R. Aye, 91, of Clovis, New Mexico died Sunday, January 27, 2008 at his home in Clovis. Ernie was born April 3, 1916 in Sioux City, Iowa to Raymond E. and Bertha Shiefield Aye.
He graduated from Parker High School in 1936. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 1945 during World War II. He was stationed in England and France and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. While stationed at Clovis Air Force Base, he married Norene M. Moore November 2, 1953 at the Base Chapel. He retired from the Air Force in 1963 and was employed at Clovis Memorial Hospital from 1964 to 1978. He also worked at Plains Regional Medical Center for a year.
He volunteered in Little League baseball, football and basketball and was an official in all sports. He was a member of the Clovis Masonic Lodge 40 A. F. A. M. for over forty years and was Master in 1989. He was a member of the Eagles 3245 and also a lifetime member of VFW Post 3280.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, James P. Moore of Clovis. He was preceded in death by his wife and his son, Sammy Aye.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2008 at Steed-Todd Chapel in Clovis with Pastor Dean Turvaville officiating. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be at a later date at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
