Ernesto "Ernie" Chavez II, 46, of Fort Sumner, unexpectedly left to his eternal resting place on September 13, 2017 in Lubbock, TX.
Ernie was born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 20, 1971. He was very close to his mother and sisters and is now laughing and telling jokes with them and his dad in Heaven; Ernie knew the true meaning of family. He most recently worked diligently as a home health care provider. His desire to help not only family and friends but anyone in need was evident by his caring and loving demeanor.
Ernie had a contagious laugh and smile that would warm your heart. He was very quick witted and was always able to keep a great conversation going. Ernie was a devoted husband and beloved father; he enjoyed being around family camping at Bloomfield, NM. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Fort Sumner Foxes Football fan. He was always heard cheering for Sammy #69 at home games.
Ernie is survived by his wife Gina Chavez, his daughters Angelica Chavez, Katrina Chavez and Mariah Chavez, one son Ernie Chavez III; step-sons Izzak, Luis, Sammy, and Juan Baltazar; and three grandchildren; several aunts, uncles; nieces and nephews and many cousins and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his Father Ernesto Chavez Sr.; mother Maria "Lala" Garcia; two sister's Deanna Chavez and Eva Chavez.
Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Steed-Todd Funeral Home in Clovis, NM, also providing arrangements. The Cremation will take place before the Memorial Service.
Memorial contributions can be made in Ernie's honor to Steed-Todd Funeral Home. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to all the medical personnel at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, NM and University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX that attended to Ernie during his illness.
