Essie Minton

Funeral services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30, at Steed Todd Funeral Home Chapel for Essie Ruth Minton of Clovis, New Mexico.

Mrs. Minton, 96, died December 24, 2021 at Farwell Care Center in Farwell, Texas.

Pastor Michael Kirby will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Lawn Haven Cemetery in Clovis.

Essie was born February 18, 1925 in Osceola, Arkansas, the daughter of Clarence Chamberlain and Frankie (Steele) Chamberlain.

Essie was proceeded in death by her husband of 41 years, Wilby C. Minton, her parents, her brother and sisters, Clarence Chamberlain, Bernice Stafford, Gladys Clarke, Eva Sue Ryder, Carolyn Schaffer and Edith Haddock, also her grandsons Corey Hopper and Bryan Minton and great grandson Trey Williams.

Essie is survived by her children, Wayne Hopper (Ann), Melborne AR. Steve Hopper (Kathy), Hot Springs AR. Leta Miller, O'Fallon MO. Carol Madrid, Charleston SC. Debbie Legg (Danny), Fayetteville WV. Collette Heim (Pat), Moore OK. Susan Fox (Jeff), Waddell AZ. Carl Minton, Dallas TX. Ramona Minton, Amarillo TX. Keith Limbert, Chester England,and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Essie loved the outdoors, learning to hunt and fish as a child. She talked a lot about learning life lessons from her father. She loved working in the yard and watching the birds and squirrels.

Essie was co-owner of both Minton Appliance and American Appliance repair with Carl Minton. Essie was an avid artist. She loved to paint and teach art classes. She won many awards for her art and was a member of Pintores Art League. Essie was a long time member of Central Baptist Church.

Essie will be missed by her family and friends.
