Evelyn Shaver

Evelyn Mayfield Shaver departed this life on September 13, 2012. She was 91. Evelyn will be available for viewing from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at SteedTodd Funeral Home, 800 E. Manana Blvd, Clovis, NM. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 17, 2012 at Steed Todd Funeral Home Chapel in Clovis with Wes McAfee officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.

Evelyn was born August 7, 1921 in Hart, Texas to Alpha and Betty Mayfield. Her family moved to Grady, New Mexico in the 1920s. She attended school at Grady, where she played basketball and performed with a girls musical group. She met and married her husband, the late Rev. Jesse A. Shaver on September 30, 1938. They celebrated over 60 years together before his passing in 2001.

She served alongside her husband as he pastored churches in New Mexico, Texas and Colorado. Early in their ministry, they served as house parents at the New Mexico Baptist Childrens Home in Portales. She had lived in the Dallas area for the past 10 years, where she was loved and will be missed by a multitude of friends. Evelyn was a member in absentia of Central Baptist Church in Clovis.

Survivors include two sons Larry Annette of Dallas Wayne Joyce of Plano and a daughter, Gail Leonard of Richardson six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. All Evelyns siblings preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Gideons Bibles International.
