Fay Marjorie Teel went to rest on July 1, 2014, in Granbury, Texas, at the age of 96. She was born on December 17, 1917, near Sand Springs and Sayre, Oklahoma, to Charles and Sarah Elizabeth Dunlap. The Dunlaps moved to eastern New Mexico in 1930 where Fay attended school at Field. In 1934 she met and married Earl Teel whom she said was the handsomest man she had ever seen. They were married for 61 years and both loved NM with its cool summer nights and flat landscape, enjoying the land even more when they returned to farming it in the 1970s and 80s. In 2005 Fay moved to Granbury to live with her daughter, Beth.
Fay was most of all a homemaker and mom but also a Clovis Memorial Hospital LPN seamstress artist of NM scenery kind, loving, patient, and totally unselfish role model for her children and grandchildren. She taught them the names of birds and wildflowers. She leaves them memories of family meals with the table covered with her delicious food cooked with love, homemade bread and homemade ice cream and lots of laughing as they gathered at the big table. She delighted in caring for her family, sharing with them gifts of embroidered pillow cases and unlimited aprons. She disciplined seldom and laughed often even though some of the laughter over antics was saved for later years during reminiscing.
The grandchildren recall her love, patience, and gentleness as well as her teaching them to work hard and to love doing so. She held, rocked, and read to all of them, and her death leaves a hole in their hearts.
