Filemon Evaristo Montoya Jr., beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, at the age of 80. He was born on February 10, 1945, in Las Vegas, NM, and spent his life dedicated to his family and community. Filemon proudly served in the United States Navy from September 27, 1965, until his discharge on September 16, 1967, achieving the rank of Fireman. Following his service, he dedicated over three decades of his life as a letter carrier for the government, connecting with countless individuals along his route.
Filemon is lovingly survived by his devoted spouse, Dolores Montoya, and their son, Abel Montoya. He is also survived by his cherished siblings: sisters; Jane Pachero (Richard), Judy Griego (JT), Rose Gonzales (Nick), Mariann Spencer, Dorothy Sandoval (Lonnie), Corine Montoya, and brothers; Robert Montoya (Teresa), Leroy Montoya (Emily), and Danny Montoya, Heather and Luke Garcia. His legacy continues through his grandsons; Masen, Mauricio (Madison Arms), and granddaughter Gabriella Montoya (Isaiah Reyes), and numerous friends. The family is excited to welcome a great grandbaby in June, ensuring that Filemon's spirit and love will carry on through future generations.
An avid New Orleans Saints fan, Filemon had a deep love for music and family. He treasured spending time with loved ones and instilled values of compassion and unity in all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the upcoming funeral services. The Rosary will be held on April 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe. This will be followed by the Funeral Service at 10:30 AM, also at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Filemon will be interred at Lawn Haven Cemetery following the service.
