Laura Frances Kempf went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 17, 2012, at Senior Citizens Residence Center in Clovis, NM at the age of 90. She was born on October 8, 1921 to Charles Fortunatus and Mary Eliza Hatchett in Athens, Alabama.
She moved to Clovis at age 13 and then graduated from Clovis High School in 1939. She married Charles David Kempf on September 21, 1940. They were married 45 years until his death in 1985. She and Charles were members of Central Baptist Church in Clovis.
Frances was a member of the Portair Community Club and served as a Pink Lady with the Plains Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. She loved and enjoyed her friends in her Sunday School class and Glory Choir at Central Baptist. Frances helped provide thousands of meals to young, growing students at Gattis Junior High School where she gained scores of lifelong friends in her years there. She believed in and lived a life of service outside her home and to her family. No matter how much work it involved, she was always the happiest when everyone and we mean everyone assembled together.
She is survived by her children, Gail Townsend, Albuquerque Kendall JoElla, Knightdale, NC and Scott Susan, Clovis, NM her sisters, Gertrude Lane, Los Banos, CA Gladys Shelton and Lavonia Carpenter, Clovis, NM and her brother Jerald Hatchett, Moore, OK her grandchildren, John Townsend, Minneapolis, MN Stacey Jamie Moser, Albuquerque, NM LouAnn Mary Filapek Townsend, Concord, NC Kimberly Jody Mitchell, Knightdale, NC Jason Donna Kempf, Broomfield, CO Bryan Kandi Kempf, Amarillo, TX and Lindsey Jerrod Kee, Amarillo, TX. She was blessed with 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles her mother and father, Charles and Mary Hatchett her brother, Charles Hatchett her sister, Ava Stewart and her soninlaw, Charles Chuck Townsend.
Her family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life on Thursday, September 20, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Central Baptist Church in Clovis. Pastor Dick Ross will officiate. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.
