Frances Matlock

Frances Matlock, 95, of Portales, New Mexico, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Farwell Convalescent Center in Farwell, Texas. She was born December 16, 1914 in Antlers, Oklahoma to Christopher Elora Herriage Owen.

She married Shorty M. E. Matlock January 10, 1934 in Carrizozo, New Mexico. She was a longtime resident of Grady. She was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm. After the death of her husband she moved to Portales in 1984 and lived in Portales until 2008. She was a member of Grady United Methodist Church.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Pansy Richard Belcher of Moriarty, New Mexico and Bernice Winfred Riley of Broadview, New Mexico 1 son, David Gretchen Matlock of Artesia, New Mexico 10 grandchildren, Wendell Glenda Belcher, Stephanie Milton Romans, Greg Tracy Belcher, Matt Elizabeth Belcher, Russell Elainea Riley, Roger Pauline Riley, Julie Chris Whitehead, Ricky Kristie Riley, Larry Matlock and Gordon Marina Matlock 17 great grandchildren 3 great great grandchildren and 2 brothers, Norris Helen Owen of Indiana and Bryan Helen Owen of Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her parents husband on June 26, 1978 3 brothers 4 sisters 1 son, Glenn and 1 daughter, Syble Calvin.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Grady United Methodist Church in Grady, New Mexico with Rev. Dick Elworth officiating. Burial will follow at Grady Cemetery.

Casket Bearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.
