Frederick Chavez, 67, of Clovis, New Mexico, died Sunday, November 23, 2008, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. He was born May 20, 1941 in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, to Justiniano Dolores Lucero Chavez.
He married Anita Garcia September 26, 1964, in Clovis. He had been a resident of Clovis all his life and retired from the Santa Fe Railroad in 1986 after 16 years. He loved to work with wood and doing yard work. He also loved to spend time with his family and grandkids, holidays and get togethers. He loved to fix Menudo, the Atlanta Braves and he loved watching football. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Anita of the home in Clovis; 2 daughters, Yvonne Lumsden Bobby and Florence Jackson Roger all of Clovis; 2 sons, Anthony Chavez of Clovis and Mario Chavez of San Diego, California; 1 brother, Esmael Chavez Virginia of Clovis and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Justin Frank Chavez and 2 sisters, Eva Solano and Cornelia Cordova.
A rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, November 28, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Clovis with a Memorial Mass following at 10:00 a.m. with Father Sotero Sena officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will follow at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.
Honorary casket bearers will be Anthony Chavez II, T. C. Chavez, Ashley Marquez, Kimberly Lumsden, Shelby Jackson, Kolby Jackson, Preston Chavez, Abel Montoya and Gabel Montoya.
