Frederick Christopher Garcia, 59, of Melrose, New Mexico, died Thursday, July 15, 2010, at St. Anthony Healthcare in Clovis. He was born July 25, 1950 in St. Vrain, New Mexico to Miguel Sanchez and Emilia Luz Cassaus Garcia.
He had lived in Melrose all his life. He served in the U. S. Navy in the Seabees during the Viet Nam war. He worked for the railroad and at Cannon Air Force Base as a heavy equipment operator. He loved woodworking and taking care of his home and yard. He also loved helping people and spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Stephanie Sherman of Hobbs, New Mexico, Geradina Curio of Amarillo, Texas and Denza Garcia of Brainerd, Minnesota 1 son, Tim Garcia of Melrose 2 sisters, Eva Spears of Deerpark, Texas and Margaret Fisher of Manchester, New Hampshire 2 brothers, Larry Garcia of Abilene, Texas and Mike Garcia of Melrose, New Mexico and 5 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Ruben Garcia.
A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 25 at SteedTodd Chapel in Clovis. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clovis. Burial will follow at Melrose Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Tim Garcia, Mike Garcia, Sammy Garcia, Domunick Gonzales, Don Garcia and Valentine Silva.
