Fredria Freddie Lorene Fair was born in Oberlin, Kansas on August 7, 1927, the second of five children born to Fred and Viola Fair. She went home to be with Jesus on Monday morning September 9, 2013 at the age of 86 years, 39 days. Freddie met her handsome sailor, Carl Deaton, in the summer of 1946 while visiting her sister in Clovis. Carl and Freddie married on October 7, 1946. Their marriage of a lifetime was just shy of 67 years.
She loved the Lord served faithfully in His church sang in the choir and was involved in community activities. Freddie was a lifetime member of the Clovis Altrusa International, one of her strong passions.
Carl and Freddie owned and operated Clovis Body Shop and CBS Auto Recyclers passing it on to the next generation in the late eighties.
She will be missed by the love of her life, Carl. Four children: Lora Tom Harlan, Clovis, NM Sue Whatley, Denver, CO David Sue Deaton, Clovis, NM Bobby Kim Deaton, Amarillo, TX. Eight grandchildren, who affectionately gave her the name Meme: Jana, Kristi, Kim, Charolette, Domenick, Carl II, Jenna and Jessica ten great grandchildren and three greatgreat grandchildren. Also, two sisters, Lou Danner, Cody, WY and AnnBill Williams, Portland, OR two brothers, Don Patti Fair, Keller, TX and John Grace Fair, Portales, NM. Sisterinlaw Betty Johnson, The Villages, FL. and many nieces and nephews who lovingly called her Aunt Freddie.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Viola Fair soninlaw Paul Whatley, sistersin law, Mable Martin, Elsie VanZee and Dorothea Baldridge brotherinlaw Earl Deaton and Motherinlaw Lora Deaton Brown Garrison.
The family will receive friends at SteedTodd Funeral Home on Thursday, September 12, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are at 2:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church in Clovis, NM with Alan McAlister officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis, NM. Pallbearers are Freddies grandson and grandsonsinlaw: Carl Deaton II, Pat VanderTook, Chad Davis, Paul Aragon, Dusty McAfoos and Nathan McCrary
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers you may choose to make a memorial contribution to Food Bank of Eastern New Mexico. This was one of Freddies favorite projects started during her tenure in Altrusa.
