Gary Dotson

Gary H. Dotson, age 76, of Clovis, New Mexico passed away on April 19, 2012 at Covenant Specialty Hospital in Lubbock, Texas.

Gary was born on March 25, 1936 to Jackson and Elizabeth Morgan Dotson in Wise, Virginia. He joined the United States Air Force in June of 1953. He served 20 years and retired in 1973 with the rank of TSgt. He served in Vietnam and worked as an aircraft mechanic and an aircraft maintenance instructor. In July of 1954 he volunteered to come to Clovis to help build the new wing to rotate to France. He worked on C124 aircraft at Dover AFB. In Thailand, he was assigned to T28 aircraft and helped instruct the Tai Air Force to learn to maintain their T28 aircraft. After one year in Thailand, he was stationed at Charleston Air Force Base and assigned as a Flight Engineer to the T29. He attended Instructors School and became an instructor on the B52 aircraft. In 1956, while stationed in Clovis, he met and married Wilma Walton in August 1957. After retiring, Gary worked at golf courses and was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends at the VFW.

He is survived by two daughters: Cheryl Neumann and Stacey Stanley Griego, both of Clovis, New Mexico one son: Darrin Luisa Dotson of Austin, Texas two sisters: Jackie Bailey of Anderson, Indiana and Joyce Bill Norton of Pensacola, Florida one brother: Roger Sherry Dotson of Frankton, Indiana former spouse: Wilma Dotson of Clovis, New Mexico seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one son: David Gary Dotson and one sister: Mary Brumback.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 SteedTodd Chapel, 800 E. Manana Blvd, Clovis, NM 88101 with Furgus Tunnell officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by the Cannon Air Force Base Honor Guard. Honorary casket bearers are Garys grandchildren, friends and members of the VFW. Interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, New Mexico
