Gary Thomas Lewis, 75, of Portales, NM went to be with his Lord on Aug. 10, 2022.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 on Aug. 19, 2022 at Central Baptist Church in Clovis, NM. with Mark McAfee officiating.
There will be no graveside service. The family will celebrate his life at a later date.
Gary was born in Carlsbad, NM to Samuel Thomas Lewis and Eva Lucille (Lewis) Lewis on Sept. 12, 1947.
During his school years, he attended Pinasco School, Weed High School & completed his schooling at Eastern New Mexico University, with a bachelors in Agriculture Business. In 1984 he married Donna Sue (Lewis) Lewis. They resided on the Canyon Blanco Ranch at White Lakes, NM. In 1985, they moved to Clovis, NM where they owned and operated Gary Lewis Cattle Company. In 1991, they moved to the Marfa, Valentine, and Alpine, TX area doing many ranching jobs. In 1998, they moved to Snyder, TX where they lived a short time then moved to Florence, TX where he started his Texas Department of Ag job as a market news reporter. In 2004, they moved to Portales, NM where he started his job with the New Mexico Department of Ag as a market news reporter until his death.
Gary is survived by his wife of 38 years, Donna Sue of the home; children & grandchildren, Dean Lewis of New York, New York, Spicer (Erica) Lewis, Tristan & Scout of Holly, TX., Paige (Kenny) Whitecotton, WT (Leslie) Weston, Tanna (Chet) Chenault all of Portales, NM. Pace (Shaye) Lewis, Jaci, Tanner (Kerri) McLean all of Goldthwaite, TX.; adopted daughter, Debbie (Mike) Kessel of Blue Jacket, OK.; great grandkids, Kimber & Trip McLean, Tryan, Easton, and Landon Chenault, Cade Whitecotton; one brother, Terry (Pauline) Lewis of Alamogordo, NM.; nephew, Brent (Cami) Lewis, Sierra & Sam; nephew, Greg Gudgell; Jake & Wesley.
He is proceeded in death by both his mother and father, and niece D’Aun Gudgell.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The League House 7000 Amarillo Blvd. West, Amarillo, TX in his name. Which was Donna Sue’s home during this long battle.
