Gary Keith Steele of Clovis, New Mexico ascended to heaven on August 20, 2019.
Gary was a lifelong active Clovis community member, served in the National Guard, and was a talented sportsman. He won several trophies in martial arts, racing, as well as archery and baseball. Mr. Steele graduated from Clovis High School before attending Eastern New Mexico University, in Portales, NM. After a year in college Gary went to work for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway and become a hardworking and gifted engineer. After 40 years, Gary retired so that he could spend more time enjoying his family, friends, pets, and favorite hobbies.
Gary Steele's interest in education continued throughout his life in subjects such as, history, archeology, and the fine arts. Gary taught karate, staged combat, and even sword fighting for a production of Romeo and Juliet.
Mr. Steele loved drama, film, television, and opera. Gary was known for his tuxedos and cowboy boots on opening nights of performances in the surrounding areas.
Gary Steele was preceded in death by his father, Francis Steele, mother, Annie Steele, and brother, Ivan Steele.
Mr. Gary is survived by: brother, Lynn, sister, Nancy, and Aunt Dessie. He is survived by nieces: Sheryl and Fayth, nephews: Trey, Brandon, Cody and Adrian. Gary will also be remembered by his18 cousins, their families, as well as a multitude of friends and coworkers.
