George Truett Borden was born on March 12, 1953 in Clovis, NM to Truett and Margaret Borden of Grady. He died Friday, February 5, 2010 at Plains Regional Medical Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer.
George was a life long farmer and rancher, growing a variety of crops in Curry, Quay, DeBaca and Guadalupe Counties. He loved to work the land and see the results of his labor. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
George married Deborah Evans on June 7, 1975 in White Deer, Texas. He was a devoted husband, and loving father, a proud Papa George, and a friend to many.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Borden, and three daughters, Candice Chad Weaver of Lazbuddie, Texas Kimberly Borden of Cambridge, Massachusetts and Kristen Parquer Chastine of Las Cruces, New Mexico. He is survived by two grandchildren, Lauren Weaver and Calvin Chastine, that were the love of his life.
He is also survived by his mother, Margaret Borden, of Grady his sister Rachel Brent Armstrong, Grady his brothers, Walter Borden, Clovis Kim Lou Borden, Turlock, CA Phillip Jennifer Borden, Grady nieces Mia Armstrong, of Las Cruces Morgan Borden, Grady and nephews Aaron Angela Borden, Lubbock Skeete Armstrong, Canyon and Chantry Borden, Grady.
He is preceded in death by his father, Truett Borden and by grandparents George and Ada Borden.
A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and medical staff that cared for and assisted him through the years.
Services will be held at Grady Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 2:00 pm. The casket will be open prior to the service. Burial will follow at Grady Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chad Weaver, Parquer Chastine, Kim Borden, Walter Borden, Phillip Borden, and Wesley Grau. Honorary pallbearers include Gerald Bailey, Buddy Bennett, Kent Carter, Pow Carter, Randy Harris, Mike Hill, Don McCoy, Mike Morgan, Randy Morgan, Jay Queener, Jeri Wiedebush, John Winsett, Don Wilson, John Heineke and his many friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 9 from 5:006:30 at Steed Todd Funeral Home.
