George Green

September 3, 1929 — April 29, 2011

George Shorty Green, age 81, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Seniors Resident Center in Clovis. He was born on September 3, 1929 to Roy and Lenora Mansfield Green in McAlister, New Mexico.

He graduated from House High School in 1948. He loved football and basketball in high school, and also enjoyed professional ball as well. He operated his own farm and ranch all his life in the McAlister area, and he loved being a cowboy.

He is survived by two brothers, Stanley Mona Green of Ricton Park, Illinois, and Ronald Laurel Green of Corrales, New Mexico two sisters, Coleen Morrison of Orlando, Florida, and Shirley Doug Daniels of Colorado Springs, Colorado and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lenora Green one sister, Romane Ray one brother Wayne Green and one infant sister, Ruby Green.

A service will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at SteedTodd Chapel in Clovis. Burial will follow at Browning Cemetery near McAlister. Honorary casket bearers will be Clifford Franklin, Charles Franklin, Wendal Reagan, Robert Green, John Jester and Donald McDaniel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranch, P.O. Box 9, Belen, New Mexico 87002.
