Gerald J. Canada age 95 of Clovis, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Clovis Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Clovis. Gerald was born April 28, 1915 in Childress, Texas to Frank and Martha T. Gibson Canada. Jerry married Zola Hamlett March 8, 1941 in Portales, New Mexico and then He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Jerry worked for the Railroad as a clerk and retired in 1978 after 35 years. Jerry served on the Church Board as Chairman for First Christian Church in Clovis, the Youth committee, Music Chairman, Treasurer of El Porvenir Christian Church Camp in Las Vegas, New Mexico. After his retirement he started playing the Rhythmic Guitar at rest homes, family reunions, and church dinner socials.
He is survived by his wife Zola Canada of Clovis one granddaughter Marissa Canada one brother Jess Canada of Cascade Montana two sisters Mary Roberts of Quinlan, Texas and Idena McBroom of Canyon, Texas. He is preceded in death by one son Jack Canada, his parents, and two brothers, Louis and James Canada.
Graveside services will be held Monday, January 31, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens with Jon Forrest and Ron Eggelton officiating.
