Geraldine M Burford, 95 of Pleasant Hill NM, went to be with her Lord and Savior, September 12, 2016, at Farwell Convalescence Center, Farwell, TX with her family at her side
Geraldine was born May 3, 1921 at Pleasant Hill NM to John and Althea Donahey.
Geraldine was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and mentor to all that knew her. She had a strong appreciation and love for life. Geraldine was very devoted to her church and the Pleasant Hill Woman's Club. She married her high school sweetheart, Joe Burford, January 10, 1942.
Shortly thereafter, Joe was drafted into the US Army, where he served in the Pacific Theater for the duration of the war. After his return home, he resumed farming and ranching in the Pleasant Hill Community, working side by side with Geraldine. Together they were recognized for their farming and ranching achievements having won many trips and awards for their outstanding crop yields.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, John and Althea Donahey, brother Elmo Donahey, sister Clara Bell Smith, son Johnny Burford, and a grandson Adam Burford, and husband of 73 years Joe B Burford.
Geraldine is survived by son: James Burford of Pleasant Hill, grandchildren: Lindsey Burford of Clovis, Ross (Leeanne) Burford of Yukon, Oklahoma, great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Abby, and Hudson Burford, and nieces and nephews: Kathleen Reese, Trent and wife Katy Reese and newly born daughter Clara Belle, Brandon Joe and wife Kristina and son Liam, Pat and husband Bobby Peugh and son Alan Peugh, Michelle Wachsman and children Kelsey, Lauren and Sean.
Visitation will be held at Steed Todd Funeral Home Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, and also Friday September 16, 2016 from 10:00 - 12:00 AM prior to the service.
The Celebration of Life service will be at 2:00 PM Friday September 16, 2016 at the 16th and Pile Church of Christ, burial will follow at Lawn Haven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Geraldine's honor can be given to the Key to the Kingdom c/o 16th and Pile Church of Christ or N.M. Christian Children's Home, Portales, N.M.
