Grace Lee Bailey one of 11 siblings, was born to Pauline and John Oscar Wall on June 8, 1916 in Grady, New Mexico. She passed from this life on April 22, 2009, having been a member of 16th and Pile Church of Christ for many years. Grace and Foy loved members there and their love was returned.
While still a small child, she moved in a covered wagon with her family to New Mexico where she resided for the remainder of her life. Some of their neighbors in Curry County were the Bailey family and at 17 she and Foy Bailey were married in Moriarity. Early in their marriage they lived in Ft. Sumner where Foy worked for the PWA which was constructing the dam. Then they came to Clovis where they remained.
Grace was a homemaker all her life; Foy was a home builder and she assisted him in designing and decorating homes. Her hobby was making china dolls for which she made beautiful clothes; most of these were given to and treasured by her family. Later in life she assisted Foy in restoring furniture. Their home was always open to family and friends and many family gatherings were held there since several of her siblings had moved to California and would return for visits.
Survivors include her husband Foy, three daughters and their spouses; Virginia and Thomas Rhodes of Amarillo, Karen and Mike McCall of Hempstead, TX, Leta and Chuck Harvel of Aiken, SC, and Two sons and their spouses; Darrell and Jeannie Bailey, and Jerry Bailey of Clovis. Three sisters Lois Eisenbeiss, Flo Scuederi, and Patsy Hatcher; two brothers Roy Wall, and Phillip Wall; eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one daughter Joy Jannette Bailey ,one sister and four brothers.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at 16th and Pile Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories with Alan Rhodes, Jody Bailey, Scott McCall, Andy McCall, Brian Harvel, and Kevin Harvel as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Williams, Bob Norris, Bob Hoy, Don McCasland, Ron Montague, Melboure Johnson, Howard Pipes and Cory Harris. The family will be gathering at the home of Darrell Bailey, 1405 Hillcrest in Clovis. Donations in her name may be made to New Mexico Christian Childrens Home.
