Harold A. Fechter

Well done, good and faithful servant were the words that welcomed Harold A. Fechter to his heavenly home on Dec. 26, 2011. Harold, 96, was born March 29, 1915 to George and Mercy Anderson Fechter in Topeka, Kansas. He graduated from Kansas State Agricultural College in Manhattan, Kansas with honors on July 27, 1939. He married his beloved wife, Blanche Smith on October 1, 1939, and they were blest with 72 years together. He retired from Cessna Aircraft, in Wichita, Kansas as an Accountant in 1980, when they then moved to the Clovis area. He enjoyed playing the steel guitar and played with several groups at the Nursing Homes, at BaxterCurran Senior Center and sang in the church choir at Trinity United Methodist Church. He also served as church treasurer and, for several years, as accountant for the Auxiliary gift shop at Plains Regional Medical Center.
Harold is preceded in death by his Parents, one sister, Evelyn Swihart, one son, Timothy, two grandsons, Peter Fechter and Michael Fechter, and one granddaughter, Kaylin Blair. He is succeeded by his wife, Blanche, of the home, three sons, Robert Teri Fechter of Glendale, Arizona Larry Barbara of Belen, New Mexico and Donald Fechter of Salina, Kansas one daughter Mahnis Ogden of Springdale, Arkansas 18 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
